Firstly, I apologise, my blogging game has been simply crap lately. I hadn’t been enjoying the blogging world at all and I felt it was time I had a break, clear my head and all that. I did then try to gain back blogging mojo but it was obviously too soon. I have been away to Marrakech with my boyfriend and his family and sadly I lost my gramps whilst I was away. I have since had a spark light within me and have the urge to blog again, that must be a good thing right? So here is a few tips from me to you on how I got back on track… well how I am getting back on track and its working for me at the moment.
Assess the Damage – The worst thing about taking a break is the damage which can be done in the mean time – no content means no views? Since I have had my break I have noticed a dramatic drop in my views. Not that I’m hung up on what views I get each day. My blog to me isn’t about being popular it’s about having a little part of me on the net. Somewhere that I can find peace. I have met some amazing friends through my little ol’ blog. So recently I sat down and looked at my views. I noticed that my twitter following had actually grown and my bloglovin’ following had slightly grown but remained at a steady number. So my damage weren’t all that significant. Thankfully.
Make Changes – new beginning means new routine as such. It’s not exactly a new beginning but it’s still coming back after a break as such. I’ve cut down my hours from work so I actually have time for myself. I’ve set myself some actual goals to work towards and I’ve also become super organised.
Be Organised – Being organised can be much more of a help than you think. If your not an organised person already it may take you a while to get organised but you will feel so much better in the long run. It’s amazing to say before I started blogging I was no where near organised but now I am I can actually tell if something is missing out of it’s place on my vanity. That may be a touch of OCD creeping on me but we’ll ignore that for now. I always like to write a few posts at a time. If I have half a day off like I do some Wednesday’s I dedicate that afternoon to writing a post and taking the pictures. Then I know if I struggle one week I don’t have to worry too much because I’ve got content already written ready for these situations.
Commit – Once all the changes have been made it is important to commit to those changes. Stick to a schedule that works for you and be consistent with it. I used to aim to post every two days but with me working such long hours at work, I found it difficult to be able to take photo’s and edit them and then sit and write the post between shifts. If you’ve made yourself organised, keep it up. Make sure your still being organised every-day setting yourself time gaps to do certain things such as reply to comments or read emails.
That’s my tips for getting back on track for blogging. What do you do to get back on track after a blogging hiatus?
